Been trying to think of melee weapons to draw drekir with that aren't spears. Ergonomically drekir struggle with one handed blunt weapons that aren't also in a roundabout way polearms such as quarterstaffs, and drekir don't have a great horizontal swinging arc in regards to the flexibility of their arms making a slashing weapon impractical outside of something like a strafing blade. But something that is a concentrated chopper that is mostly swung downward or upward. It makes for a weapon that is actually difficult to deal with.
A daggeraxe might be a simple though kinda brutal weapon made by various cultures, might also be referred to as very charming names such as a "Bellypick", "un Rascador", "spinal tap" etc. It is simply a short thick and stout blade (usually copper, brass or bronze) that is mounted 90-100 degrees from a short haft. It's very straightforward and is meant to be swung either downward into an opponents back, upwards to gut into an enemies belly, or other such locations through similar swings such as the chest or lower neck or the tailbase of an enemy.
Most drek fighting happens flank to flank as opposed to chest to chest, with drekir spiraling around eachother or running to their opponents flank to try and attack them, the flank exposes very vulnerable areas of a drek such as the crest of the back right between the legs and the belly. A weapon like a dagger axe is hard for a drek to defend from, they can't reach their arms up to stop an attack on the top of their back and the right angle of such a weapon ensures that even if the drek blocks the shaft the blade might still hit into their back, so unless there is armor there that drek is kinda helpless from that blade getting into their back and seriously messing them up. Likewise a swing from below into the belly is also difficult (though not as impossible) to block. The only way to not get incapacitated or killed by such a brutal weapon is to avoid the blade by shoving past or pushing out of that blades reach. Armor also helps protect one from strikes of such a nasty weapon, otherwise though having your life ruined by a fighter with a daggeraxe is a very real possibility.
I imagine in a lot of cultures that know of a weapon like this know it to be an exceptionally brutal weapon, most conflicts between tribes of drekir have ritual warfare or less lethal approaches to warfare. Injuring a warband and establishing dominance over them with a smaller number of kills. Killing large numbers of an enemy tribe is likely to mark your tribe as a danger in a region and generally in most conflicts drekir are less interested in killing enemies and more in sending a message. Killings do happen of course though in many cultures its not necessarily something that happens as constantly.
So taking a weapon like a daggeraxe that really doesn't have a lot of control or ability to not horribly maim someone sends a negative and intimidating message to other tribal warbands. it is saying "I don't care what the other locals think of us, I am here to maim, kill, and cripple you". In many cultures such a weapon might have a horridly negative reputation as a brutal immoral maiming weapon. Some cultures may have an emphasis on intimidation or a far more violent take on endemic warfare, and some may save such weapons for groups they particularly dislike such as the sivilão.
In any case, a not spear weapon that is particularly brutal and nasty, downward or upward swings are something drekir do decently and with a weapon like this, can produce some rather horrible results

Thanks! I imagine that having ones entire body plan, ergonomics, and biomechanics would warrant a different approach to most things and melee weaponry/ close range fighting is something I've been ignoring since spears are just a really nice weapon for a drek. But some alternatives are always nice to liven things up even if that alternative to the classic daggers and spears is basically a butchers weapon.
Given how resource intensive metals are, what sort of uses would they have for such a tool outside of combat? Lots of indigenous tribes across the world would rarely ever create a tool whose sole purpose was to maim or kill: Tomahawks can be used to butcher animals as well as harvest various plants, and short spears often have longer edged points that can be used for processing meat and hides just like any other knife. I imagine that a tool like this would be very useful for picking apart cacti and help with extracting moisture from them by giving an easy means of cutting sections off at the base without having to deal with the spines.
I mean first considering the Scorchers with their pikes I don't think specialized weapons are that far off the realm of possiblity. Additionally considering there are many examples of weapons being made specifically for warfare by tribes by the peoples of the Nordic Bronze age, the Clovis point civilization, and indigenous cultures today I wouldn't necessarily agree it was universal that tools and only tools were made, depends on the culture.
It really depends on the region. For most of the dragonscape copper is actually a relatively common enough metal and its not really the hardest metal to melt down and cast. Generally with copper being found in most every house and building across the current world it wouldn't be hard to dig around some ruins or poke about some long gone suburban regions to find some pipes hanging about. I imagine drekir would focus a lot of their metallurgy on specific tools though weapons designed specifically for warfare aren't unheard of in many societies.
I do think it would be a handy tool to function something like a plane as well, stripping wood of its bark or for harvesting stouter large plants like large ferns or whatnot, so agreed it probably wouldn't be just for warfare.
Lastly one of the most common copper tools of the chalcolithic was the Axe and Adze, and considering that an Adz and this sorta daggeraxe are very much the same shape and of similar construction itw ouldn't be a surprise for a village to simply use an adze in the same application. Though with the natuer of endemic warfare anything working like that daggeraxe is probably going to be for someone you really don't like. As endemic warfare is often more about establishing dominance with the occasional injury or death rather than a deliberate and malicious maiming and killing of a large group.
