Roscoe, the Tackle [comm]
>> Original art by
thekyleishere. Go check him out, he's still open for art.
The real Orozco Jones is a half-Japanese, half-Inuit man living in Thailand. Within the mental reality of the Scapes, "Roscoe" takes the form of a buff samoyed man with a talent for "pinning". That is, disabling another person's ability to willfully affect a Scape, but only when Roscoe is in direct contact with the subject. Many times have an over-emotional user's disruption of the Scape network been neutralized by Roscoe's wrestling moves.
Before the advent of automated world moderation, so-called "hackpointers" like Roscoe, Chevise and Alexei were tasked with using their ability to affect connected minds at a fundamental level to keep things in line. They are hired by Scape network owners to ensure the Scapes are a safe and comfortable experience for users.
Roscoe has a sturdy and calmly confident demeanour, and often comes across like a gladly-retired soldier. Despite his love for alcohol, a warped American accent and setting up his virtual home near a recreation of the Red Square, he will vehemently brush off notions that he is Russian. He gets along fine with the ladies, though he has also openly courted men. Why he has the dark band around his samoyed appearance's neck is only told to those close to him, but some think it has to do with desertion from some nation's armed forces.
>> I'm working on a short story, tentatively titled The Prisoner, which is basically a prequel to Requiem To Nephilim involving Chevise and Alexei. Roscoe is another main character. With this I hope to learn to write a bit tighter, and get some practice making a thing where you can't completely trust anybody in it.
I'm glad I now have another guy to throw at the muscle artists out there. =3
