Daerachas and Miss Red vs 2
Another wee giftie I doodled for
Durin
Of his Utahraptor Daerachas and my large Velociraptor, Miss Red.
My other gift wasn't so great after seeing it the next day, so this is to make up for it.
Was going to colour it but I didn't want to ruin it.
Yay for more raptor practice (should have been doing schoolwork but was inspired).
Hope you like. *lickpounce*

Oh yes, you've caught him good and proper this time. ^..^
To be honest, I have trouble believing the species sizes here... You must be a super-velociraptor and he must be a pigmy Utahraptor! A deinonychus, I would have been able to believe, but anyway, it doesn't matter too much. It's the idea of a smaller female asserting her dominance over a larger male that thrills me, and that's what you appear to be doing here. ^..-
I think both your expressions are adorable. His surprise and slight nervousness versus your calm, controlled attitude is perfect. This is a real winner.

Im not a fan of how Deino's look, Ilik the sleeker more elongated snout and body of a velociraptor. Deino's have stouter faces and bodies..My body type in rl is more lean than sturdy or stout. :)
She's not based off jurassic park though, new species of dinosaurs are being found all the time..or removed in case of triceratops :(
So if there is a Utahraptor, which is a massive type of veloci..then it doesnt rule out the possibility of a medium sized veloci either :p

Hehehe... perhaps... although in most cases the larger the body, the shorter the snout. T-rex and Allosaurus tend to show this principle to even larger scales as well. That's how evolution does it because for larger raptors, a shorter snout means more pressure when biting - important when hunting large prey. For small raptors, a long thin snout allows agile snapping at small, fast prey like fish and insects. Still, raptors are believed to be feathered too but I won't go into that either, because fantasy doesn't have to reflect reality! It's the same for me too.
I refuse to believe that all raptors had feathers, just because scientists found a few with them, does that have to mean all of then had a full array of feathers or just a few on the crest, depending on which started developing. Who's to say they didn't start out leathery and graduly produce feathers further along the line.
I entertain the idea that it is very much climate based for any species of animal.
Science bothers me alot, especially with the whole 'oh yeah btw Triceratops and brontosaurus don't exist'
It's like the iguanadon all over again isn't it? 'oops we put the skeleton together wrong'. *sigh*
To me dinosaurs have scales, and some could possibly have had feathers, but not all dinosaurs turned into birds (as some day), I don't think a protoceratops or stegasaurus or a diplodocus would turn into a bird? Or T-rex and allosaur, they got huge..I seriously beleive it was the smaller bipedial dinos that turned into birds, like compy's and such.
Then again, all just my personal opinion.

Well of course, I agree with you on that. We're inspired by the dinosaur evidence we've seen, but the end-result doesn't have to be something that is scientifically accurate... or we might have to change them every few years! That's where the fantasy part comes in, as I said.
