But seriously, I saw this spooky blood red moon outside while jogging. There's a forest fire nearby, and the smoke is turning everything in the sky red.

Very cool! I'm always frustrated by how terrible sun or moon pictures always turn out unless you're a professional with a whole rig that's been set up ahead of time. I tried to take similar pictures when we had fires near where I lived and everything was bathed in apocalyptic red twilight for a couple weeks, but it was hopeless. The colors are always washed out and the sun or moon always looks ten times smaller in photos than it does to the eye. Yours is good enough that I can at least imagine how it might have looked, though!
This reminds me of a great spooky youtube channel called Local 58, particularly their Skywatching epsidode.
