The Bestiolerectus sapiens are gentle gardeners native to TRAPPIST-1e, having originated from a semi-aquatic organism that moved about on all six of its limbs. The move towards bipedalism freed up their front two pairs of limbs for more specialized tasks, with the main clawed pair used for defense, while the secondary pair have three finger-like digits for finer object manipulation, along with sprouts of sensory hairs around the tips.
While these hands aren't as precise as the dainty hands of other alien species like Humans, they suit them just fine enough.
Their long stiff mandibles function like toothbrushes: sharp grinding "teeth" which process "plant" material while secreting digestive enzymes. The resulting soup is then sucked up through each mandible like a straw.
Bestiolerectus use a wide variety of vocalizations and body language to communicate, with nostrils whistling and all four arms flailing about, a Bestiolerectus in mid-conversation is an endearingly goofy sight from a Human's pov.
The individual illustrated is posing with a simple handmade pot housing a native "plant". Photo-synthesizers on TRAPPIST-1e, due to having a red dwarf as its sun, and thus providing low light levels on the temperate "twilight zones", come in a darker hue than the true plants Humans are familiar with on Earth.
