I never get tired of Wigwags, they hold such fond memories from childhood.
I recall my extreme delight about 10 years ago when I found out that there were some Magnetic Flagman's so close to where I was now living. I watch them whenever I'm in the area.

Ahh yes, the WRSS version of Wigwag. This design is what I remember so fondly from my childhood. On the very short ones I could reach up and push the banner and they'd briefly make a tick-tock sound. They are very free swinging. The one in the background probably is on a mast that has settled and it's leaning or there's a wind that's catching it. I've seen film footage of the WRSS wigwags doing this on a UP safety film from the 50's. The signal maintainer had actually put a bit of sheet metal in-between the sides of the 'peach basket' to keep it from swinging too far.
It's so cool BTW that the WOSR still keeps their Wigwags.
