The original Starcraft is by far my most favorite game of all time. The reason? Hydralisks. I remember the first time I hatched one of these from my zerg hatchery; it was like love at first sight, and since then they've always held a special place in my heart.
As many of you know, I do not really have a "character" that I would call my own. I guess I don't really feel the need to translate my personality into another physical form; I am who I am and that is all you need to know! However, the closest I've come to making a "character" for myself would be the Bone Hydralisk image I drew a few years ago; it's basically a combination of the three things I like the best: hydralisks, peaches, and bones. People often refer to that as my character, and you know, I'm okay with that. But if that is the case, the bone hydra I drew back then doesn't really reflect what a bone hydralisk should be.
Alive, hydralisks are the ultimate killing machines. They can shoot from afar or slice you up close; they can regenerate health and require massive amounts of firepower to take down compared to their strength. They are a perfect blend of speed and death and are incredibly powerful in mass. A bone hydralisk, therefore, should be just as terrifying. If I was to really make the bone hydralisk my "character" it would be more akin to this; realistic in its proportions and incredibly terrifying to run across.
At least, underneath it all, it'd still be lovable and cute... if you lived long enough to see it. >:D
Just a simple pencil sketch... looks better in person of course.

Haha, wow. Seeing the things in the cinematics for the game has been kinda bad enough, or good enough, depending on how you look at it. >_> Couple or few hundred pounds of organic death machine coming up to you puts the panic on anyone (ask Kerrigan or Warfield), but I think that skeletons rising from their bodies would make it that much worse. "We killed em!" "They're back!" "Oh shoo-" *spines*
Mass Hydras are still kinda crazy, but one of the new units has earned a special place in my heart through sheer staying power, despite the connotations (I think that's the right word) of its name. "A roach's life" is an amusing achievement to earn outta the blue as you burrow and unburrow a small force of spitting harassers. :D Too bad they lack air attack. D: *burrows and flees*

I just love the roach portrait and their fat little butts. They get me every time!
But yes, Zerglings are definitely adorable no matter what way you look at it. I love how fast they get when you upgrade them too; they actually look like a swarm when moving and attacking. So awesome!
