Dante woke up to the sound of roosters. The golden retriever sighed as he got out of bed and grabbed his pitchfork, ready to head out to the fields. He had to work back breaking labor in order to have a roof over his head and some basic meals to sustain himself. This all happened once his family abandoned him, forcing him to work this way. It was a tough life, but it the hand he was dealt in life. All he could do is play his cards right. He went out to the fields and began working, picking up piles of hay to be made into bales, tending to crops, and feeding the livestock. It was rough, demanding work to have to do everyday. How he dreamed of being able to live in a castle, never having to work like this just for a meal ever again. Just imagining a life like that made him want it even more.
"Pah, what am I thinking? No way that'll ever happen to me." Dante grumbled to himself. Thinking like that was practically being delusional.
As he toiled away in the fields, a rather fancy carriage pulled up to the fields. Dante saw the carriage door open. A very well dressed, somewhat short feline walked out. A scribe by the looks of it. He was well taken care of, with meticulously groomed fur and a rather plump frame. He carried with him a scroll.
"Hear ye, hear ye! Attend and listen! The king is seeking a new servant, if you wish to test your luck then step up and give your name!" He shouted out to the field workers. Surprisingly, only a few of the many workers went up to the scribe. Did they think they'd never win? Or maybe they just don't want to work for the king.
"Chance to work for the king? Well, it can't be as tiresome as working in the field. That scribe certainly looks like he's been well cared for. What the hell, why not? It's not like I'm losing anything by trying." He somewhat meekly walked over to the scribe, who was adjusting his hat.
"Are you here to sign up for the raffle?" The plump scribe asked.
"Yes, my name is Dante, I work in the farm and fields." Dante replied, a bit nervous about doing this. The fat cat nodded and wrote down the name on the scroll with a quill. He then smiled at Dante.
"Done! Best of luck to you Dante, you look like you would enjoy working for King Xiar!" The cat meowed and waited a bit longer for others to try and sign up before heading off to the town.
"Now all that's left is to just continue my daily life and hope I was picked." Dante said as he returned to the fields. He continued to work until the sun had gone down, where he returned to his hut for a meal of porridge and bread. He looked at his meal with disdain, but ate it nonetheless.
"I really hope I'm picked, I do know how much more porridge I can handle eating." He sighed, and went to bed.
The next morning, Dante woke up to a knock on his door as the roosters cawed. He walked over to the door and opened it. Dante was greeted by the same plump feline he met yesterday.
"Sir Dante, I'm pleased to inform you that you have been chosen to become King Xiar's newest servant! Please step into the carriage, good sir." He meowed happily and led Dante into the carriage.
"I can't believe this is happening! It's exciting! No more working from dawn to dusk." Dante spoke in delight, his tail wagging rapidly.
"You'll love it, I'm sure." The cat purred, eager to induct a new member to the King's list of servants. The carriage brought them past the commoners district, through the marketplace, and past the nobles district, all the way to the castle. The whole trip, Dante was eager to see what his new life would be like. Once they arrived at the castle, he was brought inside to the main hall, where the King sat most of the day.
"King Xiar, I present your newest servant, Dante." The cat bowed and gestured for Dante to step forward. Dante did so, and blushed at the sight of the king. He was a magnificent large dragon with lustrous Red and Black scales. He was quite large, with thick limbs and a hefty belly fitting of a king. He wore only his underwear, which nicely complimented his thighs and waist.
"Ah yes, Dante, I'm pleased to meet you. I see that you were a field worker, yes?" Xiar spoke in a commanding yet friendly voice.
"Yes, your majesty." Dante replied nervously.
"Then a bath would be fitting for you. I will not allow my newest servant to be covered in dirt and filth. Elliot," he turned to the scribe. "Show Dante where the bathing rooms are."
"Yes Sire. Come now." He turned to Dante and began making his way through the halls. The castle was magnificent, Dante couldn't believe he works there now. He was brought to a room with a pool of hot water, gently steaming and looking quite inviting. "Clean yourself up here, a change of clothes will be brought to you." Elliot meowed and walked off. Dante took off his clothes and slowly stepped into the water. It felt amazing. He washed off the old dirt clinging to his fur, and used one of the soaps to clean himself off, smelling of lavender. He stepped out with a towel around his waist, finding another servant had brought him a new set of clothes. He thanked them, and noticed as they walked off that they were rather plump as well. Dante put on the clothes, a clean linen tunic and trousers with his name embroidered on the collar of the tunic. He put them on and returned to the King.
"There you are Dante. I assume the new clothes are more to your liking?" Xiar asked.
"Yes King Xiar, they're very comfortable." Dante replied with a smile.
"Good. Now then, I'd like you to tell me your story." Xiar then said, wanting to learn about his new servant. Thus, Dante told the king of his struggles and hardships. Xiar listened with genuine curiosity.
"I see. Well, those days are no more because I have a favorable proposition for you. All you need to do is become my feeder, and you will have your own living quarters and income." Xiar proposed.
"I'll gladly accept such an offer!" Dante replied happily, his tail simply thrashing.
"Excellent. Elliot, tell the chefs to send a buffet to my quarters. Dante, I'd like you to come with me." Xiar said as he stood up and turned to the hallway, unintentionally (or intentionally) showing off his rear to Dante. The large dragon led Dante to a magnificent room, decorated with the finest of furniture, with a large bed at the back wall. Xiar went to the bed and layed down on it.
"Now then, the meal should be here soon." Xiar spoke calmly. Right on cue, several plump chefs walked in, wheeling carts of divine looking dishes in.
"Don't be shy Dante, pick some up and bring them over." Xiar said while licking his chops. Dante did as told of him, bringing full plates to Xiar, who gobbled all the food down whole. Glazed ham and sweet bread, bowls of stew and cakes, all going right into his maw.
"Magnificent~" Xiar murred in delight as he rubbed his belly a little. It looked fuller now, but there was still space for him to eat more. Dante brought more plates, practically sliding the food off and into Xiar's rumbling belly. It gurgled pleasantly as it began digesting all the food in it.
"Mmph… more~" Xiar murred again, his belly growling hungrily still.
"Yes Sire!" Dante replied happily, grabbing more plates and bringing them to the king. This went on for a few hours, the carts of food slowly emptying and the dragon's belly slowly growing. It was at least an extra three feet bigger, and comfortably stuffed.
"Ahh… that was delicious. Come, sit by me for a while." Xiar invited Dante.
"Gladly!" Dante barked happily. He sat beside the King's gut, giving his rubs and massaging it, all while it groaned and gurgled noisily.
"If this is my new job," Dante thought, "then I'm going to love work."
