When he's in position Tinker casts the actual spell that'll join the two of them together. Everything below Crunch's shoulders warps into a completely new shape, while the little unicorn fills out to well beyond any size he would ever imagine he could be.
Once the spell concludes the two are free to feel out this new state they're in. An odd sensation for Crunch as Tinker examines the unicorn-dragon hybridized body they now share. However, while everything below his chest feels almost alien as the pony stands and walks them around, it has been a very long while since he was able to move anywhere without lugging around that bolder of a tail he had. So maybe not the worst tradeoff.

Let me tell you. I absolutely LOVE me some good world building TF sequences.
This little bit so far completely opens up the idea of all the different little interactions these 2 characters now have to deal with since merging. I'm extremely excited for how this will progress in a sort of slice of life sense.

He's not saying his hoof is larger than his house, he's seeing it now suddenly bigger and he's just realizing how huge he feels.
You have to forgive his exaggeration. It's his first transformation.
And when you look at a lot of the other dragons compared to their ponies. Crunch is actually quite a lot bigger.
