The colors are gorgeous.

Thank you! I was such a mess the past week every time I looked at it, because i felt the colors were just crap. I finally changed them to this, and I'm much happier with the turnout, although it's not what i was looking for initially. I just need to keep practicing, so I can put my ideas down better!

You did a great job in pulling it off. I can't wait to see the final.

Thank you! It took me a while to figure out what I wanted. i found a nice "light ray" brush for photoshop on Deviant Art, and I tweaked it a bit, resized it, etc. It was great using that, as I'm very much a beginner with lighting. :/ Hard stuff to work with, in my opinion.

yeah lighting is super hard, I suck at it, but the brushes worked nicely :3

I think lighting is one of the major things I fail at most. I come into a picture knowing where I want the light source coming from, but half the time I forget and just put lights and shadows wherever I want them. I never had any formal art training with the exception of high school art//AP drawing and AP 2D, and both really were "do your own thing" instead of learning prior to doing. Although maybe we did learn a few things (like perspective) but at that age I was NOT interested in the basics, so whatever little we did learn I never paid attention to it, and I definitely regret it. Most of the lighting on this is just a guess on my part :/

haha yeah same, I try and shade but it usually doesn't really follow a light source cause I fail xD

exactly, lol. I don't do that either, and then I'm also afraid of shading TOO dark... I like the high contrast in other people's artwork, but I'm afraid to do it in my own!

I'm excited about it! I see a few art styles I want to try out... I initially tried to do this in a different style, but it failed miserably... tch.

BUT, out of all this, I'm considering making a comic! It'll be very closely based off Marie Antoinette's life.... hopefully it'll turn out nice, and hopefully I can find a faster way of coloring... o.o

haha. Definitely romance, definitely drama, and I've gotta work out the kinks on the action! :D Definitely at the ending though. I'm totally changing it up from Marie Antoinette's fate. <3

The boobs should be pushed up. Every single period piece I've seen has them with their boobs practically about to fall out (just like another part of her anatomy).
