in this version, like in the one described, scar and zira often leave shenzi, banzai and ed to babysit simba while they discuss their plan for the future. during this time, simba and shenzi grew close like mother and son, with simba sometimes going to shenzi to talk aboult things, while also going to "uncle banzai' and "uncle ed' for training.

during a scene, which takes place after kion and nala entering the graveyard and mufasa telling kion aboult the kings of the past, simba looks up at the stars, having a quiet moment to himself. shenzi sits by simba and asks him what's wrong.
simba, feeling sad, tells shenzi that he feels saddened that his parents sometimes neglects him and they always go off to talk aboult something without him. shenzi feels sorry for simba, as she felt guilt for taking simba away from his true family. it's then that scar aruptly calls simba and shenzi inside the cave. as scar and zira continue their grooming of simba to be their leader, to bring back the throne for his dear old "mommy and daddy', shenzi could only watch in sadness and shame. banzai asks if she's going soft which she quickly denies.
