Foliage is tough with watercolour. In retrospect, I should probably have dry-brushed the leaves in instead, but it didn't occur to me at the time. And yet it did while I was painting the bark...
One thing I do like in this one is the feeling of depth from using more diluted paint for the trees in the back. It's fun to realize that I don't have to fill the whole page with colour, too; significant areas of white in a background piece can still create a really appealing effect (in my opinion).
