So... it's been a little while since I've released something. That doesn't mean I haven't been working, though. We're getting a little more experimental, so this maybe isn't as high-quality as some of the stuff I've released in the past, but it means good things for the future, I'm doing new stuff and learning a bunch!
This time, it's a proper Sarabande, hence the title! The Sarabande was a slow (I mean slow) dance in three with an emphasis on beat 2. Slow and 3 doesn't really work with EDM, but I managed to figure something out. Drum and Bass runs around 170 bpm, so that's perfect for a dance at 1/3 the tempo around 60 bpm! Figuring out how to use the Baroque dance rhythms in an EDM context is proving to be challenging, but as I keep learning about the dances and experimenting like this, it should get easier.
Again, my mixing could be better. I tried some more aggressive compression and limiting on the master, and I don't know if it really worked out or not. I still need to learn how to master without squashing my mix into oblivion, so it's time to experiment with that, too.
