The figure darted across the grassland, leaving no footprints behind as it stepped through the mud. Grass swayed with it’s cloak as the wind blew past it. Trees leered at it, towering over flowers and bushes. Roots snaked into the ground like vines growing alongside a brick wall. Shadows danced in the moonlight, a result of the branches brushing against each other.
As the figure ran, the brush behind it rustled. Without looking back, it kept it’s pace, silently running as its unseen pursuer followed. Each step taken was followed by the sudden sound of wood snapping. A growl resembling the low rumble of thunder emanated from the thick grass, catching up with the figure.
Almost there.
The ghostly hunter knew this as well, for it roared like a banshee. As it did, the creature shot out from the dense shrubbery. Scars weaved across it’s body as moonlight revealed each and every one. Needle sharp teeth glistened as it charged towards its prey.
The figure ran with increased vigor towards the ravine. A makeshift bridge connected the two sides, rotten boards hanging on by a loose nail. It was on the verge of collapsing with the slightest breeze of wind being able to send it down. With a small jump, it landed on the planks and with no hesitation whatsoever ran like hell.
The creature pounced, claws digging into the side of the pallet. A snap bellowed throughout the gorge followed by a encore of splintering wood. The figure doubled it’s speed, as the creature swept a clawed hand at it. Pain shot up it’s back, the sound of cloth tearing being the precursor to it.
The pallet tilted slowly beginning it’s descent into the river down below. There was only one way to get out of this. The bridge gave out from it’s feet as it jumped towards its salvation.
Hands desperately sought to grab onto something, anything as the ground retracted from their grasp. Their grip tightened as a splayed tree root was the only thing stopping it from dropping into the abyss. A screech echoed from down below as the creature fell. A audible splat resounded a decline later.
Dragging itself up, the figure slowly walked towards the trail. Hopefully, it led out of this horrific place. With each and every step, it strode down the path, waiting for an end to the nightmare.

This was something I drew about two or three months ago while I was still trying to sketch properly. It was more or less inspired by Little nightmares along with a bit of Inside. Feel free to speak your mind about it! Criticism helps artists improve.
