Here I found myself, months of travel and training to get to this day. But now, now I could see them. The Three Mountains. One of eternal rain, feeding lakes and rivers. One of eternal fire and lava, burning away at the world's darkness. Finally, the middle mountain, the one of light and hope, brightening the world in its own way, showing that the highest peak is always there and waiting for whoever was dedicated enough to climb it. I stared them down from the cliffside, knowing that now was the time.
My dad had told me about the mountains since I was born, telling of stories passed down from generation to generation, stories of those who braved their treacherous peaks, those who had fallen attempting to climb them, and those who had succeeded. He had promised me that one day, we would climb them together. We would conquer them. He passed away last month.
I continue to stare them down, taking a deep breath. I could feel my dad with me, standing beside me, encouraging me to continue on, to finally do what he had said we would. I was to climb the Mountain of Eternal Rain first. Its cooling water would keep me safe for the Mountain of Eternal Heat and Fire. I step to my left to turn away and head over, alone.
Well, I think this is my best work yet! The person could've been done a bit better, and I wish I didn't have the pen check spirals, but I don't have much else to complain about! This one took several hours to make.
