I don't do these kinds of close-up portraits at that scale, usually... at least, not with traditional media. I'll blame it on looking for more things to draw/paint with watercolours. I thiiink this was the first one I made after buying my palette. I ended up switching out Chinese white (which I rarely even use) for Payne's gray which I bought separately, and I haven't spent a moment looking back. Payne's gray just has so many more uses for what I do.
Blowing on wet paint is fun too, it's how I did the background splashy effect. I didn't really control it very well, there was a lot of water and it ended up dripping off the page which I didn't really want... but I've learned better for next time.
But yeah. Anja's grump sometimes. Maybe he needs a not-so-grump in his life to cheer him up.
