Name: Aristides
Codename: Dusk
Gender: Male
Orientation: Bisexual
Species: Deity. Default form is an American Mammoth Jack Donkey.
Age: 27
Personality: Kind, empathetic, protective, stubborn, determined. Aristides cares deeply for people and does what he can to ease suffering and make their lives easier. He also enjoys helping people achieve their maximum potential, and above all be able to live without fear in their lives. To this end he deeply takes offense at those who would take advantage of other's dreams, and is outright enraged when someone actively seeks to crush other's successes and hopes. Especially if it's for something as, to him, shallow as profit.
Abilities:
Deity of Dusk: Aristides' dominion is the dusk and night, and he holds a measure of Authority over them granted by his father. His divine power begins to grow at dusk, is at it's zenith at midnight, and begins to wane with dawn and be at it's weakest at noon. During his time of power, he is able to channel the divine light of the setting sun, cloak himself in darkness and manipulate shadows, and call down starlight. Naturally he can perfectly operate in darkness as well. By using divine energy, he can even become star (as in a star of the night sky, not in the sense of what the sun truly is) that brings divine radiance, healing energies, and inspires hope. The longer and more intensely he does this, the more he must pay.
Of the Line of Ouranos: As the son of Astraeus and Eos, Aristides is a trueborn deity and a child of Gaea. As such, his endurance, stamina, speed, strength, and so forth far exceed anything mortals or lesser spirits can achieve. He may also freely manipulate his body to an extent, and even grow as large as a building. By invoking his Authorities he can move at the speed of light, though only for one second. Any more requires expending divine energy. He can also shed his physical form to become the Dusk Incarnate, but this will turn any mortals or lesser spirits who witness it to dust, and regaining his physical form is costly.
Teleportation: Aristides can freely teleport to his mother and father's domain and any temple or shrine devoted to him, regardless of where he is on Earth or any of the realms tied to it, as well as to wherever it is currently dusk. Due to his nature as a celestial deity, he can also teleport to a given distance within the night sky of Earth or where the stars are currently shining, but no farther than where Earth's light is visible.
Immortality: As a deity and part of the Planet's "operating system," Aristides is unable to truly die until the Earth is destroyed. His physical form can be destroyed, his essence captured and sealed or scattered, but he will always reform eventually.
Weaknesses: Due to his domain being the dusk and night, Aristides' power is at it's lowest at noon, starting to wane the moment dawn comes. During this period he has no access to any of his Authority over Dusk and nighttime. As a nascent deity he also only has so much divine energy to access and make use of, even with several cults devoted to him around the world providing faith-borne energy. Weapons of sufficient magical power, origins such as being made by the Faeries, and those chosen by the Fates can wound him as well.
A check against him exists in the form of certain creations of Mad Science, and finally his personality can be turned against him, such as his anger towards certain manipulators, his stubbornness, and even his empathy if done by a skilled manipulator.
Profile:The son of the deities Astraeus and Eos, god and goddess of the dusk and dawn respectively, Aristides was always unusually empathetic and caring for mortals. Raised among his siblings of the evening and morning sky, he always enjoyed seeing people begin their day or end it, having grown and changed or pursued their dreams. Then he saw that such could not be true for all, and he choose to ensure that the number of such people would drop.
When he was allowed to leave home on his own, he established temples to himself in the form of community centers and homeless shelters all over the world, where anyone in need could gather in safety to change their lives for the better, or rest after getting their basic needs met. One such especially notable location is the Ash District of Sable City, where he's slowly been having a profound effect on the livelihood of people there. He gladly joined the Ash Knights, and fights among them as their heaviest hitter if he isn't busy elsewhere in the world, while also providing a place where people can be safe after dark from the Things that haunt the streets.
And just as important, he has taken into his company Archelaus, the son of Zeus and Heir of Olympus. The two have travelled the world together, Aristides teaching the prince how to be better person as the two grew closer and closer, and would gladly do anything to see him achieve his full potential.
