i cant believe it! this is what i was looking for! i was using photoshop 7 all this time, and i had this software sitting in my disk drawer. i got it when i ordered my tablet, and i didnt give it a second glance. just goes to show how easily i pass things away...

thx^^ it has a much better variety of tools, but still has the digital airbrush. also i can draw a perfectly curved line! that was a huge issue with photoshop 7. you can make a picture look anyway you want including realistic (with the right skill of coarse)

thats a very good idea! my dad used to be a professional artist (and hes still good as ever! hes also furry! how cool is that, right? :D) he told me to practice with inexpensive tools to get the technique, then move on to better stuff. the only reason im using this is because it came free with my bamboo tablet.
Oh, awesome! I wish my dad was like that... he thinks furry is just one big joke. :/
But yeah, you're right about moving up to fancy tools once you're ready. That's the best thing you can do, and sometimes you find out you can work so well on the cheaper medium that you don't even need the fancy one! :D

Corel paint is awesome. I was using it for the longest time to do my sketches, some coloring, and lineart. But, then I found Paint Tool Sai...which...the lineart feature on it is SOOOO much better than photoshop or even corel paint essentials. Its smooth, makes it look more..flowy. I've been using it for everything. With photoshop..I used to cheat with my personal art and used brushes to make the background...not on Sai. I create my own. And its alot more fun too :O
