A mellow moment at night inspires me to draw some of the banal aspects of my life. The catharsis is interesting to me in a fundamentally artistic way much like how some modern, independent comics offer ugly slice of life strips on their lives. There's no attempt to be pretty and the placement and word choice is as much a part of the drawing as the doodle itself.
I draw myself realistically and with cartoony stylization, but this flat representation is probably closer to how I see myself. A kind of non-descript person of limited interest. This isn't really a matter of self-esteem so much as sheer boredom; I'm not narcissistic enough to be fascinated with my face and so don't think much of it.
I've preserved the edges of the page and the sketchbook rings themselves because I think they add a humble quality to the already humble imagery. Maybe get it closer to as if you're holding it even though it's on the screen.
