Just a hypothetical convo between Oli and Drip before the two get moving on their journeys, Oli being interrupted again in her "absolutely not sunbasking" laying around.

I can relate to using semantics to protect yourself against ideas you don't want to believe. It's a bit of mental gymnastics to manage it, but until you come around to accepting the idea you're avoiding, it's a good way to get done what needs to. For all the scales, Oli is still very human.
I enjoy the honesty and social awareness of the other dreks, too.

Yeah Oli very much is not comfortable with the instinctive drives and urges she has to deal with, even though many of them are very much hard wired into her (and every drek) for a very important reason. Denial or semantics, whatever helps keep a drek chugging with the processes they probably should do to not suffer from any number of issues. In this case it helps stave off food from rotting in their stomach, a literal "rot".
Drekir, just like humans, are socially keyed on on the emotions of others and generally like humans empathy is a common trait of drekir. Especially with strangers that might line up age wise with their den.
