Based on real life, a real disaster in the 1980s. Back in April 26, 1986, there's a nuclear accident in the Soviet Union in Chernobyl. Reactor number 4 exploded that night during a safety test and the firefighters were the first ones at the scene. From my knowledge, some of the firefighters didn't even know what really happened. They were told that there was a electrical fire and nothing major has happened. At the scene, they know there was more than just electrical fire. The fire was more hotter than usual, some firefighters fainted, some can barely stand, and some threw up due to high dose of radiation. Those firefighters... I felt so sorry for them and yet they did what they have to to stop the fire. Many of them didn't live for very long after that night.
This is only the first part of the demo being released on Steam. It's free, the full game will come out soon. As I played this full first part as a firefighter... I was already horrified even before the game begins. Just going around trying to extinguish fires, then once that is done. I was told to climb up the Block number 4 to go help and save the people who are stuck up there. It wasn't bad at first until you make it to the blown up reactor's rooftop... that's when I felt the real horror. There's also graphite laying around as well, now those things you never touch! Very lethal when you touch it! Now if one of those graphite is in my way on the path, you can used the shovel to push it away. Now once you got at the rooftop of the reactor 4, I know in real life, one of the survivors witness a very beautiful bright blue laser light that shined brightly and endlessly into the night's sky. But in the game however, the reactor is pulsing... The sounds it is making gave me chills as the thing was alive and breathing. It's almost like a boss battle but it's not, you must avoid it's dangerous rays as it start pulsing. Yes, in that level you can actually look down into the open reactor that is still running. You know by looking that, this firefighter doesn't have much left to live due to deadly high dose of radiation. The demo ends when you made it to the top where the cooling chimney is. We must wait there with the other survivors for evacuation, but the survivors there are already either dead or fainted from the radiation. Even one of them has very serious skin burns. To my horror and the character of this firefighter... picked up the reader that tracks radiation. It read "Error." The reason it says error, the radiation is so high that the reader can't read it because that thing only reads up to 3.6 roentgen. And that's where the level ends.
There's a lot more to it later when the game fully release. There's a trailer of this game on YouTube when I saw it, there's many more levels. Like the clean up detail, drain the water pools under the reactor. Things like that, and I can't wait for this full game to come out, it's very interesting and it has a lot of pretty good mechanics that you must solve yourself instead of like press whatever key to do this or that. This is all up to you to solve and fix.

Oh I have. I used the shovel to push them away and yet it's very frightening how my vision went very static and burry as I got near it to remove it.
In the game, they made them glow. Like light blue glow coming from them. If that's not frightening enough it's the breathing reactor as I try to get across using the cat walks and getting myself up to the rooftop. I can't wait for this whole game to release! It draws you in!

I watched part of the trailer. Creating a video game based on the Chernobyl disaster is a very unique idea for a videogame and has a lot of great potential if done right. Still, I don't think I'd be drinking or smoking anywhere near that reactor!
I wonder if they'll do a sequel based on the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster.
