Mutta Strain "Renegade" Bio Page
Somewhere on the plains of Kitaag, a horde of huge, tan wasps swarmed across the land. These were a strain of Mutta wasps, born to cause havoc. Able to assimilate their victims easily, these beasts are not to be trifled with.

Deep in the grey, fog filled regions surrounding the toxic Smog Sea, two Hebiri wearing the long red cloaks of the Scavenger's Corp rode, one on a three wheeled light machine, the other on a monowheel device cobbled together from old corporate machines. The monowheel driver, a nigh-black scaled, green haired Hebiri, spoke up as a battered, twisted structure rose ahead.
'Sczeth, is that it?' She asked, yelling over the engines of their machines and the howling winds of the ravaged, polluted desert.
'Looks like.' The calmer, male Hebiri said, his grey scales marked with purple splotches of Vermillionic blessings.
They had been looking for this place, after they were advised about its existence following an attack of the new strain of Mutta Wasps, the Renegades.
The two craft pulled up next to the rusted building, its structure worn away by the howling winds. Two husks of what were once security turrets stood outside the doors, which were shut tight. However, part of the walls had collapsed, so the two pulled up there. Sczeth, the male of the pair, hopped off of his trike first, helping his companion off after.
'You look cold, Dava.' He said, as the Hebiri shouldered her empty scavenging bag before holding her coat tight.
'The Smog Sea is a wretched place. Too damn cold! How are you not cold?' Dava replied, as Sczeth shouldered his own bag before gesturing to the mark of his Vermillionic blessings- vicious looking, purple claws. 'Also makes me pretty resistant to the cold. C'mon, lets get you inside.'
The two small Hebiri, both around four foot, managed to clamber over the ruined wall, and stepped into the halls. Dark, empty, and scavenged before. Panels were torn open from the walls, missing cabling, and piping was ripped from the wall. However, the hall stretched on.
'Well lucky you. Anyhow, how is this place important? Looks like someone's been here already.' Dava replied, drawing a small ballistic rifle. Scrapped together like most around here, it was made from the parts of three other rifles seemingly.
'May be a false alarm. But still, be ready.' Sczeth replied, dusting off a few scrap wires from the ground and tossing them in his bag. The two progressed through the structure for almost an hour, soon finding a stairwell down. The stairs were dark, and as Dava fumbled for a flashlight, Sczeth's eyes could be seen in the darkness, glowing purple.
But the flashlight wasnt needed, as the upcoming door opened on its own, sliding up. The hall beyond was dimly lit, illuminated by foggy green strip lights.
'Eerie.' Sczeth commented, claws seemingly ready as they progressed down the hall.
'How the hell is this place still lit? And why green?' Dava asked, as her companion simply shrugged.
'Probably nuclear batteries. Surprised the lights are still working, we'll have to get those later. Chemical lighting maybe?' The man asked, stepping around a corner ahead of Dava.
'Why weren't they scavenged already?' Dava asked, as she rounded the corner behind Sczeth.
'That.'
The Hebiri was standing over a skeleton, the bones a deep green from a high copper presence. The skeleton was of a creature that stood almost at a ten feet once, with four arms- a colonist. Once. Several bags laid around the corpse, full of scavenged materials.
'What the hell- Sczeth! We need to get out of here!' Dava yelled, as Sczeth turned to grab her by the shoulder.
'We've got a job to do, Dava. If your hands are shaking too much, give me the rifle. Something happened here.' Sczeth replied, holding out his other claw. Dava hesitated, and handed the rifle over before drawing her standard issue plasma sidearm. 'Alright. Stay behind me. We'll come back for the scrap here on the way out.'
The pair moved down the hall to a second door, which opened slowly, gears grinding. The chamber beyond was battered, with dozens of broken screens at the far end. A rusted android was on the ground nearby, and those strange green lights continued to glow, illuminating the chamber dimly.
'What was this place even for?' Sczeth asked quietly, crossing the chamber. one of the screens was still active, barely- Dava went over to it, jacking a small module into one of the ports as the computer turned on.
'Looks like a central laboratory of some sort, once. surprising these systems are working! If anything, we hit the motherload.' Dava says, typing commands into the glowing screen. Documents popped up, as she jacked a bulky data-pad into the module.
'Your hunger for good salvage seems to have overtaken your fear, haha.' Sczeth laughed, standing behind her, keeping an eye on the chamber.
'I have a hard time resisting something like this! Looking at documents from a dialogue between someone here and Talon Corporate. Oooohhh, is that a classified document? I'm getting as much transferred as I can-'
Suddenly, there was a skittering noise from the roof... and the lights shifted. And then a clank, from nearby. Sczeth raised the rifle, cocking it.
'What the hell...?' Sczeth asked, looking up but then towards the battered robot- as it began to get off the ground. Dava quickly yanked the module.
The android stood up, its boxy, armored head glowing in the dim light from the one red light. Sczeth quickly fired a shot into its chest, cracking into its armor. The bullet proceeded to bounce and crack one of the tube lights- revealing a head of a tannish insect!
'Fuck, what the hell is going on?!' Dava yelled, grabbing Sczeth by the arm. He fired another shot, and then the gun sparked and burst open.
'The Renegade Mutta! Go!' Sczeth yelled, as the robot raised and arm and fired a bolt at Dava- she cried out in agony as the rusted bolt sunk into her shoulder, snapping off in it. A second one was fired, but Sczeth's Vermillion-enhanced reactions smacked that one out of the air.
'Ack! this hurts!' Dava yelled, stumbling towards the hall as the lights started to crumble. Massive tan wasps began to break out from the lighting- their eyes glowing bright green.
They were the lights. Hundreds, if not thousands of them.
Sczeth pelted down the halls, tossing the rifle to the side as he pulled Dava along. But the door wouldnt open to the hall.
'Sczeth...' Dava said, tears welling up in her yellow eyes, as Mutta Wasps began to take to the air from the ceiling.
'Dava. Im sorry.' Sczeth said, as the robot placed its head in a hand, shaking its head in response to this showing. The wasps buzzed around it, paying it no mind as Sczeth continue battering the wasps away with his claws. A wasp slammed its stinger into his chest, and the wound tried to heal around it! But he kept fighting. Dava tried to unlock the door, but she went silent as a wasp locked itself on her head.
'No!' Sczeth roared, but the Vermillionic blessings he had stopped the Wasp from getting true control as they stabbed him in the neck again and again. But he was soon consumed by the swarm as well.
And as the Hebiri roared in his final moments, the robot watched, its eye glowing brightly amidst the sea of insects. And it almost seemed like it was proud of the scene before it.
