In commemoration of today, Wednesday, August 4, 2010, the day my FurAffinity account hit 10,000 pageviews, I proudly present to you a classic piece from the archives: "Garfield's 25th Anniversary Toga Party!"
On the dais in the middle, it's everyone's favorite fat cat, Garfield (technically, the first furry character I ever learned to draw well freehand), surrounded by 25 catgirls in togas. This piece was originally for a convention art show auction, with an actual size of 17" x 24".
So, can you name them all? No one's ever been able to name all 25 in one shot without references. The record so far is 23.

For the record, at the time I did this piece 7 years ago, I had a hard time coming up with 25 full-time catgirls, and I didn't want to insert any of my Draconia Chronicles tigers. The final list was brainstormed between me and 5 other friends. Took about two weeks to do this piece.
I agree, but I think it was about the time that the series was in full swing that Tavisha Wolfgarth-Simons and her husband Rosearik Rikki Simons (both acquaintances of mine, actually) went to work with Jhonen Vasquez on the production of Invader Zim. I was always disappointed that Colin and Catreece were only ever just platonic friends. Could've gone sooooo many places with those two. ^__^
I would have, much like what I did for my 5,000-pageview picture, but I've been hella busy these past couple weeks and didn't have time to do what I'd had in mind. I figured I'd whip one out from the vaults instead. Maybe I should start preppin' the 20,000-pageview pic soon...
I didn't really have anything in mind there. Besides, I have no way of really know who exactly it was. In fact, it might've accidentally been me. All I know is that when I came home from work today, the counter was right at 9999. A few minutes later, I hit "Refresh" and there was the 10,000 staring right back at me.

THANK YOU!!! So few people recognize Kitty-N anymore. I used to kick serious ass at Bust-A-Move. (I had the original Japanese version on my modded-out PS1. Refused to play the american "Bust-A-Groove" on account of its ridiculous title and badly-handled soundtrack re-recordings.)
Perhaps, but I've always been a Shorty fan in the first game (got the Japanese lyrics to her song pretty much memorized, though I don't really have the faintest idea what she's saying). Haven't played the second one, but I've heard the soundtrack, and Kitty-N's track from that one is pretty addictive.
Hamm's lyrics weren't the only racist thing--his entire appearance was horrible. But "Easy Mouse" was such a sweet song, sung just slightly off-key, but in such a cute manner that you can let it slide.
True fact: At the time the game was popular, I was actually thiiiis close to getting license plates that said "EZ MOUSE." It's only $10 here in Virginia.

Yeah, Pink came out a lot darker than I'd've liked (not that there's anything wrong with dark-skinned babes). I blame my marker guide having a slightly deceptive swatch for that color. I remember laying down the first coat (I usually do two), and thinking how dark it looked, but figuring it would lighten up upon drying... Instead, it only got darker. v_v;;

It was originally done to commemorate the Garfield comic strip's 25th anniversary in June of 2003, and so, as a gift, I gave him exactly 25 catgirls in togas. After having to live with Odie and Jon all that time, I figured he deserved some quality time with a flock of feline femmes... bearing food!
Those two were actually on the list for this piece, but I just couldn't get them in the way I wanted them to be. I figured Escaflowne was already represented with Merle, so I went with two of the "alternates" I had on my small backup list. Thus, those spots went to Jessica and Sailor Tin Nyanko. They seemed more playful, anyway.
I wouldn't even think of doing a piece like this today. Not that I wouldn't enjoy doing it, but this was at a very different time. I didn't have a weekly webcomic at the time. This piece literally took two weeks of sleeplessness to get done--mapped, inked, and colored by marker. In fact, on one of the final nights, a power outage halted work for about two hours.

Nice try, but you probably found this by digging up the old archives from our old web site where we used to showcase this piece. I recognize the numeration and formatting, since it's exactly how I wrote it. Cutting and pasting is a powerful tool... almost TOO powerful.

Once saw a live, off-Broadway production of Cats. I was lucky enough to have a front-row seat. During one of the numbers, various "cats" came out into the audience, and the girl who was playing Sillabub stood right in front of me with her back to me, shaking her sweet, spandex-clad ass right in my face. Any closer and it'd qualified as a lap dance. Alas, there's no sex in the Champagne Room... >_<
