The dark forest stretched endlessly in front of me. I heard a snap behind me and started running. My vision darkened and I was soon collapsed on the forest floor. I seemed to be transported to a dream. A nightmare. A small lighted path lay in front of me and I new I had to follow it. Though the setting wasn’t entirely peaceful. Demons and monsters lined the path reaching forward trying to grab me, but the light kept them at bay. One step into the dark and I would be snatched up by one of the prying talons or tentacles. On and on I went down the path deeper into the nightmare. The farther I went the more lost from my physical body I felt. I had to keep going.
It felt like hours before something happened. The lights on the path went out and I was exposed to the darkness once again. But I had felt this before. Where was I? I reached forward instinctively and grabbed something in the dark. I pulled and tried to get free of my nightmare. I continued to pull until whatever it was came free and I snapped back to reality. I awoke on the forest floor once again, but this time I wasn’t alone.
