Here's my analysis:
Haste is a no-go here, as it's outside where it gets allocated on the color pie. First Strike might be a better replacement for flavor purposes.
The protection is fine.
Ditch the "Self-Sabotage" flavor word; general consensus in the player base was that flavor words didn't add anything of value to the gameplay.
Finally, the phrasing of the last ability doesn't work as intended. Replace "owner" with "you", (off the top of my head, Sen Triplets, Xanathar, Nihiloor, and a host of red effects will make you have a really bad day), as otherwise you'll still be taking damage if someone steals this from you, and the way it's phrased means they would be able to double it up on you. The damage should be replaced with "lose one life", as that is the mechanical variant black gets, and has the upside of not being able to be prevented. It has the downside of not counting for Commander damage, unfortunately.
