"recording for 'cardinals' would begin around the same time as the 'trust' ep, but ultimately expanded well beyond the original scope of their first two eps. while the album was always planned to be the band's last, during the final few months of production, keyboardist jacob wilcox was tragically killed in a car accident. after much deliberation, the band ultimately decided to release the material they had available, alongside a short live album, with funds going towards family and funeral expenses."

fun fact, i actually started working on this piece last june, but it remained a draft for the better part of a year. nevertheless, i'm super proud of how it came out. it was a lot of fun getting to experiment more with environments, even if it was the most time consuming aspect.
as for the band, i'm sure i'll do more pieces in the future. it's been a lot of fun developing the concept and narrative, and i have one more cover concept i want to try at some point! (i may also go back and do some remasters to the existing art)
