EDIT: refresh for a crisper version of the image.
*****Please note I am not looking for critique until this is completely finished- please feel free to give critique on the FINAL colored version of the image. Reason: I am at least 30-50 hours into the coloring and cannot go back at this point, and have many many more hours to go. I'd rather not have the mistakes glaring at me for the rest of the time spent on this- such a thing is VERY unmotivating. Thank you for respecting that!
Sketch in full of the Short Faced Bear battle :D - He's fighting an american cave lion, the second largest predator of this time period.
Still thinking of a title for the final piece.
I'm about 30-50 hours in the coloring of this piece right now. Very lonnnggg ;_;
For the Rare 2011 calendar- please support the artists who worked so hard on their pieces. It will be an epic calendar!

their anatomy is still fairly distinct from that of a grizzly bear.
the short faced bear would be the bear at the top, the grizzly the one at the bottom
