Right now, Annie and Drake are occupying the same tank, a 50 gallon wide breeder, separated by a clear Plexiglas pane (same setup I am using on the bearded dragons, except their Plexiglas has an opaque cover so they can't see each other). The pane goes up pretty high, much higher than on the bearded dragon tank to prevent...well. This. :P
No idea how this happened, but I found this today while checking on the animals. I'm not really worried, as Drake (the boa) was actually cohabiting with two adult ball pythons when I adopted him. Annie looks absolutely smitten...haha.
Needless to say, I am going to try to prevent this from happening in the future. I just thought it was adorable, Annie is getting to know her new neighbor!
Drake is a male red-tail boa.
Annie is a female high-contrast albino ball python.

Pretty much what Snarky said :] They aren't territorial like some species of reptiles are, but it can stress them out. There's also cases of snakes being housed together where, despite there being no size difference, one attempted to eat the other....it's just not a good idea :P
Yeah I agree. I see nothing wrong with feeding live as long as it's closely supervised.
The pet store in my town ran out of live one day, and I had to feed frozen.....when Rojo struck it, he let go, but it ripped the stomach of the mouse open. It smelled for two days. No thank you.

Hey, it's better than a plastic container with an upside down tupperware container and paper towel substrate! :P
Decorations are nice, and some people like to dress up their snake tanks just for aesthetics. But in reality, the snakes are pretty dormant, and they don't really appreciate all that anyway x) I think they're content with just coming out and exploring for a couple hours a week!
