South Shore Line train #610, led by car #32, arrives at the Gary Metro Center/Broadway station, in downtown Gary, Indiana, on a summer evening. The city of Gary was once an important steel mill and manufacturing city, and with just one US Steel mill left, has not managed to recover. This station and adjacent convention center was a mid-80s attempt at revitalization. This particular train is a typical weekend run, with 4 cars, and has come here from Michigan City, running local to Randolph St-Millennium Station in Chicago.

Take Broadway north and it's off of Broadway between the B&O and NYC tracks. The bottom of the station is open just walk down the side of the station. To get to the upper part and freight house, look across Broadway and take stairs to right of way and walk down righ of way across Broadway to upper part of station.
Often the CN parks coal trains there at Broadway that usually have SP power on them.
