682 seems to overlook the fact that the humans that are trying to kill it are actually concerned for it. There Behavior seems like trying to kill it is simply a routine that they got into with 682 rather than some effort to Herschel Lee destroy it or to protect their species from it. I get the feeling that it's 682 simply stated that they wanted to go on a walkabout of the area without killing anything this 682 would be allowed to.
