"Animals are eternal, for they are not aware of their own mortality."
- The Pelican Man
The quote is from a Finnish film, which was weird, but that one sentence was simply fabulous. It's been going around in my head for months now, but I haven't ever had a chance to draw a picture that I thought suited it. Now I have. What better to represent eternity than one of, if not the, purest horse breed in the world. Plus, it's been a while since I drew and Arab.
I left the picture without a background since I couldn't think of anything that wouldn't simply have distracted attention away from the horse.

I didn't mean that animals don't understand the concept of death, which as you say they do. The way I understand that quote is that it means that animals aren't constantly aware of the inevitable ending of their life. When they are old or sick, perhaps, but not otherwise. But that's just the way I interpret it. I would be at a miss to claim my view is correct.
