[ Canine Protectors ]- Fallout: New Vegas (DLC: Old World Blues)
Leon had finally traversed this rocky desert once American's finest labatory center ruins to get here. The X8 research facility was another large building of gray concrete soon to be explored and looted of its valuable tech. He just needed an audio recording and some old records to make those jars heads at the Think Tank happy. Leon used his Sonic Emitter basting the remaining old robots to electicifed husks clattering to the floor.
He quickly scanned over his surroundings checking, finding no enemies he cononuted on into the dark labs lower areas. As the vault dewller shambered on he looked at the directional signs above him. One of them read 'Kennels' and 'Canine testing'. Soon he entered something that mirrored an old world high school in a savage state of decay like the world it came from. The nice silence was broken by one of the floating jars ranting about commies and how students were being somehow brain washed. He didn't bother to pay attetion till the scientist mentioned robot canine units being tested. For leon his mind clicked the easy puzzle into place. They were testing robot dogs here for combat and protectiviness programs.
His mind raced with glee thinking he might be able to befriend the dogs. The poor man was tired of being so alone after such hardships in a wasteland of horrors. Oh how he wished for that old world as did the Think Tank scientists, a somewhat near prefect life of prewar luxury.
The markers of enemies made he cautious once agian slowly creeping around taking out a laser turret. Soon barking of angery dogs echoed down from the hallways. Then the patter of metal running at his postion. Leon scrambled in his pockets for the ticket to an easy victory just was one neared him. A gold prewar police badge of his grandfather past down over two hundered years still shined. Quickly Leon waved it in front yelling out.
"Halt! I'm Officer McCelen!" Leon shelided his face from this soon attack but nothing harmfull happened. A whine came from infront of his covered face. This cyberdog sat whining likely out of fear disobying or nearly hurting an officer of a long dead police force. It seemed very happy seeing his face barking in happiness nudging his cheek. Leon looked at the metal dogtags tied around its neck reading in worn metal, 'Lion K9 Officer'. He laughted at such a name being very cute for such a rugged thing. Growls of more cyberdogs scared Leon, they might not all respect his old badge being military units. Lion stood facing the hall's enterence ready to defence his what he thought long lost master from Chicago.
The dogs entered slowly knowing one was already with this strange new inturder. One of the more battered cyberdogs entered snarling at Lion quicking barked at the battered one. Both dogs barked back and forth as if talking for Leon having his weapon ready. But there would be no need was the battered one was allowed to approch Leon now much more calm.
The battered one sniffed him up and down wagging his tail like a puppy becoming once menecing to nothing more then a playful puppy again. Leon awed at such a cute display finding a wretch throwing it down the hall as this battered cyberdog chased it with old joy. A few more cyberdogs peeked in courious of what had just happened. Lion yipped as a signal for them all to walk in meeting Leon one by one. Each one with different names and details making them all special. Once each dog had met him Leon counted that seven cyberdogs were in this room all friendly to him. Seven prewar cyberdogs made for combat were now loyal to him forever of all things! Pure bliss wouldn't even start to descride how happy Leon felt that very moment.
Leon took out the giant cyberdog Gabe quickly then finding audio which those brains in jars so despartly needed. Now he had seven wonderful dogs to acompany him throught this hellish wasteland. The dweller looked into his bag for another old world item. A simple hat. This faded blue police cap rapped in cloth now saw the sun of not northern Chicago but of the hot sunny Naveda desert. He smiled feeling the happest in his whole life since leaving his vault for good. Leon McCelen trueing had that same moral compass his forefathers did, He'd help this ruined wasteland rebuild beyond what prewar America could only dream of. He was part of a pack now traveling out of the Big Empty at last.
Slavers, raiders and bandits were first to know this legends' return. The force of old world might was upon those evildoers of this scorced atomic lands. Such a man went by one name.
The Pack of Liberty led by the feared and honored Captain Freedom! Such grand heros standing for the Post Americas lost beliefs, fighting on for Liberty, Freedom and the pursuit of happiness for all wastelanders among wastes. For this grand adventure shall continue...
Till next time! This has been the Grand Adventers of Captain Freedom and his pack of Liberty!
"Tune in next time on 98.77AM 9:00 AM ready for his next amazing episode!" The radio was cut off as the night begain. Two bothers both dispointed in the showing being over knowing it was their bedtime. "Don't do that you two! Bedtime now!" The father told them.
The father watched them ready for bed setting them into a peaceful sleep. He walked over to the office wardrobe. His old hands touching a ragged outfit of days past, his glory days of being a wasteland hero. All seven cyber dogs sat around protecting his two sweet boys. Only if the two boys were to know, He fought on for years now in politics but once on those frontlines of wastes. For he was a protector, a man of pure good to fight evil! He was such a hero once.
Lion tugged on his robe reminding him he also had to sleep. He got into bed letting the old police cyber dog sleep at the foot of his old metal bedframe. How those year flew for Leon...
