Early morning shot. I've heard and seen cranes around the flats, but usually quite far off. These suckers flew right overhead just about the time I got there, and I was barely ready to even get a shot. The 500mm lens is a full foot long, and not exactly the easiest thing to track and shoot birds with. That said, I'm very satisfied with this shot.

Egad! Good Lord! *choke!* Um... I've said if you want to learn to deal with disappointment, take up nature photography. That's a heavy one though, worst bit thinking you had the shots. You know, this is one of the few times where I can say I know exactly how you felt. You have my most heartfelt condolences.
