It was a gorgeous day out at sea. Anchored at the beach of Igor Island, the pirate ship consists of a crew of merely three members.
“Yargh, grab the dynamite sticks and the new recruit.” Says Captain Beth, an obese hippo with an eye patch. She didn't actually lose an eye though, she just wants to appear to fit the role of an experienced leader.
“Aye aye, Ma'am!” Salutes Yargh, an overweight, and incredibly enthusiastic gorilla. Dressed in a white/red striped shirt, he drags a burlap sack full of explosives. Wagging his tail, a little dragon sits perched on his shoulder like a parrot. Trey was so happy to finally be part of something bigger than himself! But would it last? This thought echoes in his mind as they make their way down onto the beach...
While the two blubbering pirates struggle to even walk to the jungle, the dragon hums joyously into the wind.
“Trey, you've got energy. YOU CARRY THE DYNAMITE!” Shouts Beth, ordering him in quite a demanding tone.
“Aye aye, Ma'am...” Regretting his decision to showcase his happy voice, the little guy begins dragging the sack across the sand. Far heavier than Trey imagined, the bag somehow became lighter with each step they'd take towards their destination. Upon entering the jungle, it didn't take long for the pirates to find a huge stone skull guarding the entrance to a cave.
“This is it. Alright recruit, pass Yargh the explosives.” Saying so, the hippo crosses her arms authoritatively. Beth's giant belly wobbles comically as she leans on a palm tree for rest.
“Yes, here... They... Are?” Whispers Trey, looking into an empty bag with a slit in its bottom – a shell of its former self. Unfortunately, his sharp tail tip cut the sack open without him realizing it, and the crabs have taken the dynamite sticks all for themselves.
With the dragon quivering nervously, the gorillas shadow looms over him in judgment. “Aye Captain, what we oughtta do 'bout this'n?” He asks, picking the little guy up by his neck.
“Plan B... Like you and I discussed, Yargh. Since the recruit has failed even the simplest of tasks.” Ordering so, Beth watches with a devious look of curiosity in her eye.
Nodding in response, the gorilla pulls the cord from the ruined sack. “Alright you, breathe some fire!” He yells. Promptly, Trey inhales a deep breath – puffing up his tummy. Aggressively, Yargh binds the dragons snout tightly shut. Plopping him into the grass at the skulls chin, the gorilla also traps the dragons wings within the bag – ensuring that he doesn't fly away.
“Mph? Mph!” Whimpers Trey, smoke blowing from his ears as he tries desperately to free his snout. Just as Captain Beth had hoped, his body is inflating into a bomb itself! The question now is if it'll work. Fortunately for the two pirates, the dragon's swelling into a large balloon at quite a fast rate. Just over half the size of the stone skull, his little limbs straighten out stiffly while they retreat into his grotesquely changing body. With his scales creaking tightly, his tail raises – uncontrollably farting out spurts of fire at the air. Truly a morbid sight to behold, the two back away slowly as Trey becomes bigger than the both of them combined.
“And I thought we needed a diet, he's huge!” While the hippo says so, the dragons body starts curling the surrounding trees over with his mass. He's become so incredibly big and taut, he'll surely burst soon. With his head sunken deep into its own crevice, Trey fidgets his little claws as the others flee the scene – certainly not wanting to get caught up in the explosion. Finally, he bursts wide open. Totally blasting the stone to bits, the two pirates watch the smoke plumes rise over the jungle as they stand back at the beach.
“What an excellent asset Trey has been! Now, off to... Hmm?” Surprised, Beth and Yargh find themselves fearfully back to back – surrounded by the very crabs that took their dynamite. Unhappy with the pirates presence, the crabs collectively spark their fuses and disappear into the sand... Leaving them to stick out like birthday candles.
“Ugh...” Awakening to the sound of some distant explosion, Trey rises slowly from the dark blast mark he's laying in. “That REALLY hurt my belly, gosh.” Regaining his composure, the little dragon finds a stone hand with a treasure map inside the cave. Looking over it with a new spark of enthusiasm in his eyes, Trey decides to go on his own solo adventure, and to be far more careful about who to trust from now on...
Continuing his journey across Igor Island, Trey walks at a hurried pace as he looks over his treasure map. Enjoying the sun-drenched trail surrounded by thinning jungle, he accidentally bashes his nose into a large straw hut. Laying flat on his back with tears in his eyes, a tall figure stands over the dragon with her arms crossed.
“Eh? Now, what do we have here!” Says the old witch, her black robe and pointed hat appear intimidating. Embarrassed, Trey rolls up his map and dusts himself off.
“S-Sorry lady, I'm on a quest for treasure.” Says the dragon. Folding the paper, he sticks it between his wings like a sword.
“Oh, how original. I'm Tabby, what's your name?” Asks the witch, inviting him into her hut. As the two enter, he tells her his name and admires the alchemical instruments lined across the floor. The scent of crushed blueberries and various herbs fill the air. Kneeling down beside her cauldron, Tabby churns its bubbling purple liquid.
“Wow, that smells delicious!” Shouts Trey, sniffing closely at the concoction. Gently, Tabby pushes his curious face away from the heated pot.
“Please don't touch, this medicinal potion I'm brewing has... Embarrassing side effects.” She warns, speaking in a serious tone. Guiding the little dragon back outside, she offers him a side quest.
“Alright Trey, I'll tell you what... There's a giant made of paper in a nearby crater. It's been a nuisance around here, so if you destroy it, I'll reward you handsomely.” As she offers him, the dragon hides his map beneath a rock for safekeeping. Nodding in agreement, she points him to the destination...
Luckily, the crater wasn't far from the witches hut. Just like Tabby said, there's a large paper warrior standing within the bowls pit. Its stone hands and feet raise some concern in Trey's heart, but he was feeling bold since he can just burn this creature to ashes. Flapping his wings, the dragon bolts down at it with great speed. Like playing baseball with a bullet, the paper giant bashes Trey square in the face and launches him back over the jungle, into the ground near the hut – breaking several bones.
“Oww...” Laying in total pain, he sobs quietly at the sky with tears running down his cheeks. Promptly, the witch runs out with a large bottle of her purple brew.
“You're lucky to have landed here, but please understand that your body is about to go through a serious mix of pain and joy... Just trust me, okay?” Cradling the hurt little dragon in her arms, she carries him back to the paper giants domain...
Standing at the edge of the crater, Tabby lays Trey to the ground. With a loud pop, she uncorks the bottle and feeds him the entirety of its contents. Drinking it right up, the thick blueberry potion flows smoothly down his throat. Licking his lips, the dragon desperately wants more as he wags his tail.
“Oh, you really don't need more... Seriously.” While she speaks, his bones mend back into place. Casually standing back up, he performs a quick spin – totally rejuvenated.
“Wow lady, I feel great! I, ugh...” Pausing, Trey clutches his stomach. A feeling of sheer grogginess washes over him. Looking down at his claws, his scales begin turning violet. Concerned, he feels all over himself as more and more splotches of purplish-blue form across his body.
“Tabby... What's happening to me?” Speaking with a comedic crack in his voice, the dragons tummy groans as it starts filling up with juice. Of course, the witch slowly backs away - watching her terrifying body-horror potion blossom.
With a grotesquely swelling midsection, it just keeps bloating more and more. Struggling to stand up straight, Trey spreads his legs for balance and sloshes incredibly loud. Really getting full, his whole center expands into a truly spherical orb – creaking with a tightly pressured whine as he plops to his back. Rubbing his sore flesh as far as he can reach, he belches and squirts juice from his throat.
Inflating to massive proportions - his arms, legs, and head start sinking into their own little crevices. While juice spews out of all orifices, the dragon moans as his whole body rumbles like a bomb to blow. Comically, his muffled cries permeate throughout the area as he reaches beyond the size of a whale. Whipping his relatively small tail around, Tabby nudges Trey into the crater before he accidentally pops himself. He flaps his wings as hard as he can, but naturally they can't support his tremendous new weight.
The paper giant stances itself, ready to combat this enormous rolling blueberry. Alas, it gets flattened like the parchment that it is. Totally squashed beneath the grotesquely ballooned dragon, his stretch marks subtly become more prominent as his bursting point draws near. Spattering out a wet fart, his overflowing belly pulsates just a little bit further before exploding. Quaking the area, juice rains for a little while.
Upon filling the bowl to the brim, Trey floats to the top in a knocked-out state. Now that the paper giant has been totally reduced to pulp, the witch carries the little guy back to her hut... Awakening in an iron tub, the dragon tiredly watches as the various herbs in the water soak away the stains across his body.
“...Tabby? Why? That really hurt...” He sighs, admittedly enjoying the bath.
“I know, but you're all better now, right?” Shrugs the witch. “Besides, if you hadn't failed the first time, I wouldn't have turned you into a blueberry bomb. Either way, it worked out.” Says Tabby, smiling ear-to-ear.
“Well, thanks I guess.” Blushes Trey. Happily, the witch brings him his treasure map with a purple bag. “What's in this?” He asks, stepping out of the tub.
“A surprise, one of my best brews. I'm sure it will serve you well in your travels!” Giving him a big hug, the dragon waves goodbye and heads back onto the trail. Continuing his quest, Trey looks forward to whatever surprises the world has to offer next. THE END
