Komi and Lorena are all set to hit the beach and soak in the sun for hours on end. But most importantly they will be expoiting their whale genes to have some fun and make some waves... literally!! And you might be surprised but all that blubber only makes them a lot more buoyant and with their powerful tails, moving about in the sea is piece of cake.
Speaking of cake, all that swimming sure works up quite an appetite!! And don't be fooled, my French conoisseurs: there is nothing "petite" about their appetite!! To be hontest, there is nothing petite about these two friends. They will gladly go all out on a nice and diverse spread of food, and still have plenty of room for dessert! Be advised! These ladies sure know how to eat! And they'll eat their money's worth of that all-inclusive buffet.
Better start investing in reinforced seating, otherwise the incresed spending from the kitchen will be soon followed by an uptick in furniture expenditure! You have been warned!! Whales are in this season!!
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~I wanted to celebrate Komi's 20th birthday with something special, because not only is she a fantastic artist (she draws, paints, makes adorable plushies, and perhaps soon she'll start making puppets and fursuits??? Stay tunned!), but also she is a magnificent friend. Seriously, if you don't follow her yet, go do that right now!!!
In terms of this drawing, the first idea I had was a total non-starter, and I had to scrap it, so I went with my Plan B, which I had been wanting to make a long time ago. After all whales of a feath.. errr... baleen? flock... pod together? Idk? Animal specifc idioms don't really translate to other species, do they? But anthros of the same species (even if they are hybrids) somehow share that connection.
Anyway, I went with a nice beach scene where Komi and Lore are posing their swimsuits for the camera. It must be quite early on their vacations because they still fit quite well. I'm sure that won't be the case by the time summer's over.
Also, I've been playing with the design of Lorena's hand prosthesis, so that it can adapt to her hoof. I like this design with mesh in between the segments. Not totally sold on the bronze/brass colour. Maybe next time I will try a more classic stainless steel colour and see how it looks. Otherwise, I'm still practicing my horse faces... I realized I still had lots of things to learn back when I posted her reference so now I want to redo it. But let's leave it as a WIP for now, and see how long it takes me to fulfill that promise. Future Tzin: what's your move?
