Draconis inspired me heavily at my first convention back in 2002 to keep performing and pursuing. And he did it ALL... in character. Never once breaking to talk to me normally, I only knew him as Jugular Jaguar, but he translated so much to me through the character. I was also a jaguar at the time (Javu Jaguar). So when I saw him for the first time at Antrocon 2002 while I was waiting in line, with his little carry around write/erase board so he could write to people to 'talk' -
I knew I had to jump in suit so we could be Jaguars together.
He also was adamant (back then) about preserving the magic, and not talking in character (which is the very way you're taught in the theme parks), so he pushed the pantomime form of acting into me early on when I wore fursuits. Nowadays people just talk and carry on in their suits and pantomime has been sorta lost. But I thank him a lot for that inspiration back then.
Furry characters and floofy suits hold a strong place in my heart, whether hugging them, petting them, or performing them.. that first spark at my first convention was placed by Jugular Jaguar, (Draconis) sparking that light of curiosity and passion for the craft.
We lost touch in the later years, and I miss him. May he rest in peace.
