Hebra Peak, known for being the most mountainous region of Eternum... Somewhat bleak and cold - home to the Ice Spirit of Suoldfjoll, the forgemasters of iridescent blacksteel, and the great kingdom of Eldlev. This was about 400 years ago, Faelyn having only been on this mortal world for about two centuries, well before the cataclysm of Mesevul or the great razing of the Licorne. It was a more peaceful era in Eternum for most, despite the exodus of some Enpuri, the conflicts of the present were only just starting to brew.
It was during this time that the flame forger Draelteryx had finally succumbed to his own obsessions, morphed into a beast of sorts, most mortals scared off from the forges of Mesevul. Their benevolent teacher had gone, leaving only a monster in his wake, some calling him 'Darkan', a word in Ancient Hebrian, meaning 'Volcanic'. He took to this name, unbeknownst to them, as he had reclused himself to the lava caverns deep in the volcano.
Only a mere three months had passed since the corruption, having emerged to hunt for food to store. Less hunting meant fewer outings, and that was the goal for Darkan. Unbeknownst to him, he was being watched from the second he exited a rather obscure cavern on the side of the mountain. Faelyn was on one of her first few excursions to Hebra Peak, wanting to explore that volcano she had heard so much about, only finding bleak mountains blanketed in snow and adorned with pines, spruces, and the rare elk braving the higher elevations. The hare found herself hiding behind a bush, keeping a watchful eye on Darkan, he was quite frankly the most interesting thing she had seen on the mountain that day.
"...Who watches from the shadows?" A deep, bestial growl echoed in the clearing.
Darkan's paranoia was not unfounded, as his ears perked up while he smelled the air for the strange scent - smoke and fog exiting his nostrils with every breath he took and every word he spoke. Sparks and small flames emitted from the lava in between his fur and scales, particularly on his horns and tail. The giant canine was on edge, and the little bunny definitely picked up on this. Faelyn quickly cloaked herself further, disguising her scent as nothing more than a simple bush of snowberries behind him. An easy trick that kept her safe from the creature before her as he approached, perturbed but the smoke quickly dissipated as he calmed down - plucking a few berries from the bush for later, careful to not overheat them with his new form.
'It seems he's new to this form... Very peculiar.' the princess thought to herself, keeping a watchful eye on him.
The beast hunted an elk masterfully, but almost animalistic in his hunting ways. Possibly something he wasn't used to, regressing to the animal days that all races evolved from. The bunnicorn watched him drag the elk into the caves in front of her, a dejected gait - possibly disappointed in that day's hunt. Nothing came close spare for a singular elk, and Darkan wanted to increase his food stores. Oh well. Another day another hunt it seemed. Faelyn waited until the coast was clear to continue her expeditions, careful to avoid the caverns so as to not fall victim to him... Not today.
