On a more...personal note:
I'm so glad people really seem to love her! She's...a very, VERY special character to me as I am rising above the abuse and programming I was submitted to for years; now finding inner strength and, like Rucie, striving towards inner justice-- self respect, and pursuing that which makes oneself happy, regardless of the desires or judgments of others. Rucie suffered loss, lies, and betrayal at the same hands as I did. She too was robbed of promises. She knows my struggles intimately, and seeks to mend those wounds... and I love her for it, prickly cactus though she comes off as. She is stoic, seldom driven by emotional thinking, and in a way, a reflection of some of the traits which I wish to foster and grow within myself. And thus, does our relationship grow deeper. And it will continue to do so. There is power in empathy, love, compassion, and true intimate relationships. The likes of which cannot be emulated falsely.
