"Captain! There's something under the ice!"
"What?!" Laframboise shouted, raching the upper deck, leaving the ship in the hands of his second in command. "Impossible! Nothing can survive at this latitude."
"But there it is!" The ship's boy kept on shouting, pointing southwards at a distant mound of ice. "Under that heap, I saw it!"
And as the boy kept pointing in that direction, captain Laframboise squinted his eyes, fighting against the reflection of the white snow covering the ice.
But he didn't have to fight it for long as a loud cracking noise announced the arrival of the beast.
The ice parted, the ship stopped in its track and, as the dark blue water stopped swaying, the shadow emerged from the depths revealing it's true nature as an echoing roar pierced the cold winter air of the south pole.
"For the love of everything I hold dear..." The captain mumbled, dumbfounded. "...it's a REAL ice dragon!"
