The prompt for day 4 was Mechanical. Some might wonder if, in fact, becoming a cyborg would count as a TF. The answer is yes, because that's my opinion and my opinion is law. Also, this definitely leans more heavily on the "machine" side.
In any case, this story is actually related to a personal project I've been working on in private. When that project sees the light of day will depend heavily on my level of inspiration and my amount of free time, but whether it sees the light of day at all will actually depend on
cervelet because it's actually a fan project relating to his webcomic, Addictive Science (which I would highly recommend, by the way). The idea of my project is that it's a series of chat logs and other things between a group of mad scientists attending a mad science university, initially starting with two: "Machine Max" and "Vlad the Injector". That said, I avoided any references to the Addictive Science universe ("Addictiverse"?) or the aforementioned university in this story because, well, I don't have permission to use that stuff at this time.
Anyway, a cyborg TF like this is interesting to me because, although I typically prefer the idea of becoming a dragon outright, I like the idea of a cyborg transformation like this because, well... it's the sort of transformation that could potentially become a reality. Probably not within my lifetime, but hey, scientific progression has surprised us before.
As per usual, I shall compare what I did to what CrizBN did and, well... to say our ideas were different would be an understatement. The irony of it is that despite the fact that what I did was inspired by the Addictive Science webcomic, I'd say his work ended up being closer to the level of zaniness one would expect from said comic. In a way, a part of me wonders if my story may be a bit too grounded to be faithful to AS, that the science may not be mad enough. Then another part of me points out the squirt gun tail and that first part kinda just shuts up.
