Since recording this take, I've added a new 1st verse. Which makes where the recording starts as at verse 2 now. Just haven't gotten the song re-recorded. But these are the lyrics for the new first verse and then the song goes on as recorded:
Verse 1:
A tailor's life is all needles and thread.
Not a whit of excitement,
when everything's said.
But before you could shout,
"Jack Whittington's out,:
I was hired by a lady whose looks to my downfall they...
Oh leeyii--leeyii--edneeyoh
Oh leeyii--leeyii--edneeyoh
Oh leeyii--leeyii--edneeyoh
That's where you do not go, oh!
Background of the song:
Ashton Sinclair, Peddler Extraordinaire, actually seems to spend as much of his time creating limericks and playing music on his pennywhistles and violin, as he does peddling any wares! This song and Ashton himself are in existence due to a site called Master Zen-Dao Meow: The Napping Cat's Dream. It's a forum/thread based site where you create a character and then either use it in scenarios that you come up with and other folks join, or to interact with other characters in someone else's scenario or in the chat room.
While obsessively creating a bunch of limericks because someone tossed out a challenge to rhyme something with "There once was a girl from Nantucket...", Ashton Sinclair the Peddler raccoon-man, found himself creating this Irish style song, as well. Again, I don't lay any claims to stardom as a singer as my voice is way out of practice, but I wanted folks to be able to hear the song as well as just reading the lyrics. So I managed to figure out kinda how to record it as an MP3 into my computer and--poor quality though it may be--at least it lets you hear how the song goes!
