Hello!
Here's the 4th comic!
We tried something slightly different with this comic, we used a green screen!
However
Unfortunately, the Green screen reflected back onto the dolls, And despite a lot of masking and Hue Adjustment layers, I thought sticking with a green back ground would be best.
The Tea Cups were sculpted by the awesome Drerika as part of a trade we did in 2016!
Here's the set she made for me!

You might try using just a white drop background, if you want to try Photoshopping a background in. You know, a plain sheet tacked to the wall with a gentle curve in it as it ears the floor to diffuse the shadows.
I used to make art dolls--and entire 1/3 scale room sets--for Christmas card photos. It was a blast. That was In The Days Before Computers, though.

It's funny you should say that! the first 3 comics were done in my 60cm light box, with a white background.

And my partner (works in vfx) kept saying the characters would pop more with a contrasting background colour, and that a green screen would mean less photoshop work. Ah well, I learnt a lot in photoshop, but I think I'll be taking your advice on the next lot!
Do you still have photos? I would genuinely love love LOVE to see them, if that's alright?

I'd be happy to consult, although you seem to have a good handle on the whole thing. The scale I was using, I could find miniature antiques in scale; and then it's the same size that American Girl dolls are made in, so I could use the accessories made for that toy line. The big problem I had was that the film I used didn't give as good results as digital cameras can do, in other words, the photos were grainy.
