This piece is inspired by the guerillas in Central and South America who fought against dictatorship. This is unfortunately a massive blind spot in the United States, especially when our role is so clearly linked to the Dirty Wars and suppression of democracy in not only South and Central America, but around the globe. If you'd like to educate yourself further, please research the Banana Wars, The 1954 Coup in Guatemala and the United Fruit Company's (chiquita) role, and Operation Condor.
