The next character I drew for Pride Month is Vivian from Paper Mario and the thousand year door, who is trans female. So sadly the detail about Vivian being trans is only in the Japanese version of the game, and this detail about the character is nowhere to be seen in the localized version, but she still counts as positive lgbtq representation, so I'm going to spend some time talking about her. Initially Vivian worked alongside the Shadow Sirens, though eventually became one of Mario's partner's during his journey, and honestly she's my favorite partner in the game, very cute and charming. Vivian sadly goes through much verbal abuse from her sisters (particularly Beldam), in the English version of the game, the abuse amounts to calling Vivian ugly or pinning blame to her when it isn't warranted, but in the Japanese version of the game Beldam straight up refers to Vivian as a man, completely disrespecting how she chooses to identify (I personally find this upsetting too since one of my brothers is trans). After deciding to travel with the much kinder Mario and helping him with his journey, it's implied that Vivian was going to reveal her crush on Mario, though ultimately decides against it since she think that Mario and Peach will make a good couple (nobody show the poor girl the ending of Odyssey). During the epilogue of the thousand year door, Vivian makes up with her sisters who promise not to mistreat her anymore, so it was nice to see Vivian get a pleasant ending, especially since having a family that doesn't accept your identity is all too common in the real world and doesn't always have such a nice ending.
