I still use my CD player when I'm in bed so I can use my headphones loud. If I plug my headphones into the radio and turn it up, I may roll over and pull the jack right out, and thus my whole neighborhood is woken in the middle of the night to me listening to "The Humpty Dance" at the highest volume possible. With a CD player, even if the jack falls out, you won't hear anything.
