Western dragons are an interesting, and impressive, evolution of dragons. They come in a HUGE array of colours, some with mixed abilities from the two pure colours that their scales are comprised of (such as Yellow's affinity to magics or metals and Blue's ice breath or affinity to water in Greens). Edrea is an Amberwing, and her unique powers are fire breath and an amazing affinity to magic. She can enhance it, diminish it, manipulate it and even tap into the Ley lines to give herself greater potential.

Westerns are notorious for being evil, however the majority of the time it will be the dragon being short tempered, or possibly in a foul mood from having a bad day. Generally, females are even minded -except during their breeding cycle- and, like human women, like children. Males can be egocentric, but are generally easygoing and simply like a good companion with which to whittle away the days.

Westerns are one of the most widespread species, from high in the southern mountains to low in the northern ravines, and their usual den is a cave in which the females will lay eggs. Some have been known to protect towns, taking up residence in a nearby castle or dungeon and emerging when needed, but staying solitary otherwise. Many westerns dislike humans for the amount of their species that were killed in the Great Hunts.

Edrea lives within the Temple of Light, and is somewhat of a recluse. The recent loss of her first clutch at the jaws of her last consort has struck her hard, and she is antisocial as a result. She wants dearly to enjoy having a young drake of her own.
