Yeah he's bad ass somewhat.

After his father Mal gets assassinated he takes over his fathers steps under a private association. His sister Gigi and him being the leaders, Gigi the brains and Ferny the brawns. He grew his hair to match his dad but ties it down like his mother.

Talk about speed and strength at top notch.

Why a private association? Cause he doesn't play by rules. You play it the easy way or the hard way, the opponent chooses.

He holds two gems which were toyed around by his sister who loves to change molecules and pester with the elements which caused their headquarters to... change a couple of times actually n__n;;;

Gigi helped her brother the best she could, (Gigi is a psychic by the way, their father Mal was an Alakazam, their mother and Infernape) She locked a psychic's dna in one gem and she used a fire resistant gem in the other on his head, which cleverly lowers the attack of one of Ferny's weakness, and covers his flame, very crucial cause Ferny was born with a blue flame and can be spotted a 5 miles away. So he covers it something trendy.

You won't figure out who he is till he unleashes his fire attacks but by then... it will probably be too late to care about such insignificant color and more about their own significant life.

Yeeeeah, monkey got no shirt ~ whhhaaaat just cause he's older doesn't mean he ain't trying to get some.
