Yeah I'm a couple hours late XP
These Hollows are not affiliated with any other creatures named such.
The Hollows of Cosmic Driftwood managed to establish themselves as legendary for seemingly magical abilities. In truth, they had developed a pattern of symbols that hypnotically induced non-hollows to be mentally unable to process the images of the symbols, rendering them essentially invisible.
However, the hollow garment, the Haldris, is not worn by females who are pregnant or nursing, as each haldris is fitted to its wearer upon adulthood, which precludes the enlarged belly size, and tends to be cumbersome during feedings.
Hollow maturation and growth is an oddity: females reach childbearing age before their final stature. When females become pregnant during this state of overlap, her growth actually stunts temporarily, her bodily systems focusing on the unborn offspring. When a kit has reached full term in utero, its growth will actually halt until birth, allowing the younger females to resume their growth.
This naturally raises the question, why don't females give birth at full term; why wait? In any hollow community, the females perform a bonding ritual that connects their reproductive systems to one another. When breeding season begins, the most recent initiate will be first to become impregnated by her husband. Then the next youngest, and so on, until the queen of the community takes her turn with the king.
As the community awaits the coming day of birth--the day all hollow females will descend into labor--the bonding prevents any one of them from giving birth before the queen does.
Hollow pregnancies take a different shape that most similar creatures; rather than widen sideways, the belly grows almost exclusively forward.
The tails, about three times as long as they are tall, are incredibly prehensile, allowing them to do a variety of complex tasks.
Hollows also have a secondary heart, offering a redundant cardiovascular system.
Please don't steal, don't use without explicit permission. Enjoy, pregfurs!

The connection can weaken over time and distance, but it still exists, even if she is ever banished (which is so rare, no one really knows). If she regains physical proximity, the connection returns to full strength, and she is able to re-sync with the collective labor schedule.
The instinct to stay close to the sisterhood close to full term supersedes all else. But if she cannot return, her womb will delay labor as long as possible to give her a chance to return. If she cannot, she will have to give birth away from the others. If she is able to return after birth, her children will be accepted into the community as if they had been born there.
The prehensile tail comes into play; typically a male will assist his mate by using it to make sure the cub is not in a "breeched" position, to ensure delivery is as smooth as possible. If things get complicated, the tail can be used to pull the cub out. A lone female can use her own tail if need be, although that's not easy by any means.
