Wow.. this is some incredible work. Even for a prelim sketch. I really love the outfit you put him in. And yeah.. even if he had a reference, or a description, your execution of it is really nice. Can't wait to see how that lake looks in the background... I'm a sucker for lakes and oceans from above, and that balcony has the look and feel of architecture I often dream of, and wish I could put my own characters in, but I'm too scared to attempt myself. Again, very nice work, and I can't wait to see the finished one. :)
Thank you! I can't take credit for the outfit, but the building is mine =3 I have to admit--what really helps is the technique I learned from you and
silvermask of using a lightbox to mesh pieces together.
I find that the most difficult part about drawing architecture is being careful and keeping everything in the same perspective. If you look at the first version of the sketch posted (which is really, more like the fourth in my sketchbook): http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4200988/ you can see a number of places (like, the back column) where you can see the top of something you shouldn't be able to see at that angle. The most helpful book on the subject that I have found is "Vanishing Point" a book on perspective written for comic-book artists. I highly recommend it.
I'd be willing to bet you'd do fine work with architecture, if you got the confidence to try it =3 I always love your drawing style, I'd bet it would look great. You just need a good ref and some drafting tools like a triangle and T-square.

Thank you! That's a grand compliment #^_^# I thought it would be fun to do a pride of lions holding the balcony. I can't wait until the final, because there's going to be ironwork on the balcony, I didn't include it yet because I'm planning on coloring with little/no lineart. I am just starting the coloring process, I can't wait to post the results
