“A demon will choose to kill a man before a child. A demon of hunger will kill all.” -Entry 667, date unknown.
I’ve never depicted the true horror that is Mirage, or the stress of Gaze sharing a body with Mirage. Gaze is a killer, yes, but he has boundaries. He refuses to harm children, parents, or couples. Mirage takes those boundaries and steps on them. He will kill anyone, doesn’t matter how old or what species. It worsens when Gaze needs a soul. A demon can only go a limited time before being forced to kill for a soul. In this case, Mirage decided to take that into his own hands.

❗️Storytime❗️
Everything seemed to happen in a confusing blur. One second he was on a rooftop in the mortal realm on a peaceful stroll. The next, he had felt a searing pain as he slipped away into the confines of his mind as Mirage took over. He didn’t even know why he took over at that moment, or what happened for the first half of being controlled. Until he could vaguely make out a home, rooms. Screams. So much screaming. Stop. He wanted to stop, but he couldn’t. The parents had been first. It happened so fast.
He hoped that would be it. It wasn’t. He could feel his body moving, but he couldn’t control anything he did.
Mirage was doing everything.
It only got worse when he found the room that belonged to a child. A calico boy, perhaps only 7 years old. Now it was Gaze’s turn to scream. He begged, pleaded, cried for Mirage to leave the boy alone. He could do anything he wanted to himself, just leave the kit alone. But his voice fell on deaf ears. His own. Mirage ignored him. He looked so scared. He tried to cry out to anyone. The boy, Mirage, anyone. No one heard him in his own mind. Mirage got closer, the boy tried to hide under his blankets, half frozen in fear. In a last effort attempt, he called out one more time.

Again, nothing. He was already too late.

Stinky: Noooooooooooo! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 Poor baby and parents. ;-;
Stella: Yeah, ok. Demon hunting time. No I don't care. I'd sooner seal the souls of all demons in a void to starve and dissolve into oblivion than let anyone innocent be hurt.
Also, damn. Really don't pull any punches in details, eh?

Nope. When it comes to conveying emotion and intent, I love to go all in. This isn’t even the worst thing Mirage has done either. The child here does die, but it’s fairly quick compared to his very first family accident. If you really want to pin blame on demon hunger, Apex played a cruel joke. A demon can’t die of starvation, instead, their body goes on auto pilot. They kill anything with a pulse, but have no memory of who they kill or how. The longer they go without a soul, the hungrier they become. Gaze’s own guilt about being unable to help the poor souls Mirage kills is more than a punishment for him. He’d take every horror of hell than be forced to share a body.
Stinky: All the more reason to seal them away.
Stella: In a void with nothing but each other, they'll go into autopilot and become a swarm of murderous monsters. Then, once they're all sealed up and mad, Apex will be last to be torn the shred by his own creations. That's my punishment.

Apex cannot die. He is an Anti-god. Demons also don’t go after other demons when hungry as, by nature, they are soulless and only absorb things that have souls. Every demon he ever made could be banished, as impossible as it is even with the Divines, but nothing would stop him from making more, or even recreating dead demons. If he wanted, he could make as many demons like Mirage or even worse without any effort. It’s why demons as a species are so feared and hated. They’re not exactly a fan of mortals or other creatures themselves due to the concept.
Stinky: Key word: SEAL. XD Meaning trap and cut off from the rest of everything. XD No interaction with the outside anywhere.
Stella: Regardless, he'd be stuck. And unable to interact with any other part of the multiverse. There'd be the void, the void, and ONLY the void. No souls, no anything except him and his creations.
You can't harm anyone when everything is sealed away from you.
